Hearing Loss Association of America - Manhattan Chapter
|
We are the Manhattan Chapter of The Hearing Loss Association of America, the nation's largest organization for people with hearing loss. The Hearing Loss Association of America's goal is to open the world of communication for people with hearing loss through information, education and advocacy. You are welcome to join us on the 3rd Tuesday of the month, September through November and January through May, at 50 Broadway. The doors open at 5:30PM and our program starts at 6:00PM. Monthly topics vary from discussing hearing aids, cochlear implants, assistive listening devices that augment hearing aids or cochlear implants, advocacy issues and more. Assistive listening help is provided at our meetings through live CART captioning* and a room loop for those whose hearing aids have a T-coil. A few FM headphones are also available. Please go to our web site http://www.hearin... for more information, including travel directions. * CART is an acronym for "Communication Access Realtime Translation" Its almost like open captioning for television, but the captions will be on a screen next to the speaker.
